Monument

Monument that carved Haiku(Hananomotono-chosyu)

「Akiwaima Juisshuno Homarekana」

This Haiku was wrote by Choshu Hananomoto who was an elder of the Kyoto haiku world, and he came sightseeing in Onuma in September 1924. The monument was written in large letter directly and carved for real cliff where is backside of Nishioshima and it is like a fresco, like wall writing. A part of the haiku weathers and becomes hard to read, but it is very precious.

Erection:It has two theories, in 1924 and in 1912. But it’s not obvious.
