A Thousand Winds Monument

A famous tune “A thousand Winds” which translated poem and composed in the ground of Onuma. This monument were installed to commemorate at the lakeside that command Mt.Komagatake in 2008.

The writer, Man Arai felt wind to blow over the forest in a log house in the bank of Onuma, and completed it a famous tune “A Thousand Winds”. Mr. Arai impressed with English poet “a thousand winds” unknown author, and thought added music to the translated words and gave a friend, but it doesn’t go well and felt frustrated. When he took a walk through Onuma lakeside, the strong wind make a sound and to shake trees blew. For wind, he knew that there was not only the sound but also the form and seemed to fell the noise of the life such as the creature then. This monument put andesite from Nanae-cho together into a mosaic form, and installs height low to harmonize it with the scenery around. It is a popular view spot overlooking Mt. Komagatake.
